Introducing Cape Town City Center

The city centre of Cape Town is where the city comes to life with its vibrant Long Street, buzzing nightlife and eclectic mix of restaurants, bars and cigar clubs. Situated between the harbor and the iconic Table Mountain, the city centre is rich in both history and culture, it has the greatest concentration of historical buildings in South Africa.  

There are so many activities, sites and attractions in Cape Town’s City Centre making for a fun filled holiday with an activity for everyone and it is the perfect base from which to explore the rest of the city. For those interested in history and architecture there is the District Six Museum, Parliament House in the Company Gardens and the City Hall where Nelson Mandela made his first speech after being release from prison.

The area is also bursting with local markets selling local crafts and flowers, with flower sellers lining Adderley Street and the recently renovated Greenmarket Square show casing local artists and curios. For outdoor activities there are trips up Table Mountain on the cable car or hikes up Lions Head.

Due to is wet winters, the best time to visit the city centre is during the dry warmer Summer months where the days are sunny, clear and warm making it the perfect weather to explore all the city has to offer. The temperatures in the winter months can reach 18C but the wind and rain can make it feel colder. The summer temperatures can reach a comfortable 27C.
