De Zalze Golf & Wine Estate is located between
Somerset West & Stellenbosch in Cape winelands, South Africa. The 300-hectare winelands golf estate with its 18-hole championship golf course was co-developed by Spier wine estate. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy on site wine tasting, a golf hotel as well as cuisine in the Kleine Zalze restaurant, clubhouse, or the nearby Spier Estate.
The Development of De Zalze Golf Estate consists of clustered houses in a number of independent ‘villages’ or developmental nodes each with its own individual character. The De Zalze Winelands Golf Estate will consist of 558 plots, ranging in size from 500 to 1 700 square meters.
Some of thee ‘clusters’ at this golf estate are in an elevated position and offer exceptional views of the surrounding mountains across the greens of the golf course, vineyards and others are located on the Blaauwklippen River, amongst decades-old oak trees.
Prices at De Zalze Golf Estate range from 1 million Rand upwards (US $ 170 000 / Euros 125 000).
Peter Matkovich who has made the most of the stunning setting and created a golf course that places a premium on accuracy, designed this golf course at De Zalze Golf Estate. The golf course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the
golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.
The golf course, open since 2000 with the brand new Cape styled thatch clubhouse is an exciting addition to the group of international standard championship golf courses recently built in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
The De Zalze Golf Course has already hosted a number of championship events and will together with the Spier Resort be the host venue for the 2006 World Amateur Team Championships.
