The Arabella Golf Estate is located a 1 hour and 30
minute drive from Cape Town in direction to Hermanus,
South Africa. The prestigious Arabella Golf Estate is
home to the Western Cape Hotel and Spa, which is
a world class 5 star hotel, a member of the Sheraton
Luxury Collection. The Arabella Golf Estate is located
20 minutes from the seaside resort town of
Hermanus on the banks of the Kleinmond lagoon.
The Arabella Golf Estate features an 18-hole
championship golf course, which is home to the
Nelson Mandela Invitational Tournament which
draws international and South African professional
golfers, businessmen and celebrities to this exclusive
golf estate. The Arabella Golf Estate prides itself on
keeping with the breathtaking natural surroundings
of the area. The Arabella Estate covers 112 hectares,
the residential erven comprise only 12 % of this area.
The properties at Arabella vary in size from 550
square metres to 1 050 square metres.
Just as the
architects have used the environment to their
advantage, so too have they protected it.
Prices at the Arabella Golf Estate range from 2 million Rand upwards (US $ 330 000 / Euros 250 000).
The renowned architect Peter Matkovich headed the
design challenge at the Arabella golf course. His
undoubted success has resulted in a golf course that
complements the environmental elements without
disappointing the golfer, whether expert or amateur.
The Arabella golf course was awarded the Golf Digest
award for the best new golf course in South Africa in
1999. In 2002, the Arabella golf course was rated
number 9th in South Africa by Golf Digest and number
5 in 2003. The Arabella Golf Club was awarded the
Complete Golfer Five Star award in 2003.
The golf course at Arabella is 6381 metres in length
and has a SAGU rating of 72. The golf course borders
the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and
the 9th, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon
therefore providing beautiful views and an abundance
of wildlife. Choosing a signature hole proves to be an
extremely difficult task as all of the holes are well
designed with spectacular views.
